Introduction

"The idea," says Director Dexter Fletcher, "was to create something that would genuinely explode off the screen, a riotous joy-ride of imagination, celebration and drama."

They toured Elton John's Windsor house and met with him early on regarding the look of the film. He was not only the subject but also one of the producers, along with his husband David Furnish. Farr was impressed with the icon's openness to their creative interpretations, preferring they not rigidly recreate his environments but rather "surprise" him with their vision.

Elton's childhood home featured authentic vintage styling, offering opportunities to incorporate genuinely period-appropriate wallpaper and fabrics.

Her creative sensibility and broad outlook enabled her to establish connections with what she calls "mad collectors" of vintage items.

The production encompassed numerous sets, ranging from local pubs to upscale London restaurants, diverse offices and residences, a private aircraft, crowded dressing rooms, and various performance venues from The Troubadour through Dodger Stadium.
