Student Membership

Any IDI student currently enrolled in any of the schools programs is eligible to join the ASID @ IDI Student Chapter. You must apply for ASID Student membership through the ASID National web site. It is simple, and only takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

Noah’s Arc Design Challenge

Noah’s ARC is a new partnership project between The Salvation Army and American Society of Interior Designers in Orange County.
• Student designers will showcase their talents in this venue created specifically for them.
• Purpose of Noah’s ARC Design Challenge:
o to raise awareness among the general public in Orange County that they can purchase home furnishings and accessories at The Salvation
Army and integrate them into well-designed living spaceso to emphasize the message that the proceeds from the sale of donated items at Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores in Orange County provide the sole support for the Anaheim Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC).

We have designed a contemporary bedroom by combining pieces from different eras and adding colors and textures that are current today. The space shows how you can mix antique pieces with newer pieces and by adding fresh colors and fun textures you can have a space that looks very current

NOAH’S ARC DESIGN CHALLENGE!
· Students have an opportunity to showcase their talents in a fun way

· Give back to the community through supporting Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC)

· Create 12×12 storefront vignettes that showcase your talents using Salvation Army furniture and accessories

· Publicity during a 5-store tour to open on April 10

· “Best Display” awarded to the winning school

All you’ll need to get started is:
· RSVP with your participation by Friday, February 19, 2010. All I need to know is that “YES, my school is in!”

· Assemble a team of max. 5 students to represent your school

· Have the team, or representative from your school, attend the mandatory orientation meeting on February 24 from 10am-11:30.

The 2008 Orange Coast Art House is a two-week Public-Private Show Home Tour & Gala Event created to draw Art, Architecture and Design enthusiasts to a spectacular home. Imagine an architecturally significant estate – with each room inside decorated with world-class art work in place of the expected furniture like a traditional Designer Show House. At the Orange Coast Art House – the incredible, unique works of Art are the focus.

Habitat for Humanity

Anaheim House, installation week – September 5th through 10th 2008

At 8:20 AM on Friday morning, groups of students meet in the idi parking lot and carpooled over to the job site in east Anaheim. Much cleaning was needed before furniture installation could begin. The student teams swept, and dusted and cleaned out construction debris from closet, cupboards and even bathtubs. Part of the education is learning that interior design isn’t always a “Glamorous” job.
